Shots: Perspective

How we view things is a matter of perspective, right?  What we see depends on where we place our focus.

So, when 2 boys come at you with 2 cans of silver spray paint, and the younger one suggests they draw “a really nice picture for you on the side of the house, you’ll like it,” this is [...]

I read a magazine article recently about a photographer who was asked what he was doing lying on his side outdoors.  The photographer held up his camera and said, “I’m taking photos.”  The traveler looked around at the dry brush and ugliness surrounding them and said, “Of what?”  The photographer said, “Of God.”
This is where I live.

I find [...]

For our Little Gal’s recent birthday, we wanted to resist the temptation of giving her plastic toys that only cost $1 (bargain!) but that break within 24 hours (not a bargain!).  Still, we needed to give Little Gal something for her birthday. So we turned to the overflowing craft drawers/bins/shelves/baskets/closets and found things to make.  Everyone [...]

Our beautiful Gulf Coast sun came out again, after a day and a half of hiding.  Oh, how I missed it, sun-spoiled-soul that I am.  I was able to get some better shots of the Disappearing 9 Patch quilts for you.

Above are thumbnail peeks at the photos.  Click them for larger views, or….

There has been quite a bit of interest in the Disappearing 9 Patch quilt top I made a couple of weeks ago.  That humbles and surprises me, new quilter that I am.  (Thank you.) When I started a new one for our Little Gal who is turning 5 tomorrow (sob), I thought I’d photograph the process [...]

I walked into our girls’ room this morning to find the room had been picked up (check), the blinds were open (check), the sheets were taken off the bed for today’s laundry (check), and then…
I found this on the bed, next to an Easter hat and a pile of stuffed animals.

It looks like our 10 year [...]

One of my posts is in the Charlotte Mason Blog Carnival today.  You can read the article, titled “The Year of the Just Pure Lovely” at my former (text-y) blog.   That article also explains why I was inspired to create this much less text-y blog, full of my whims and fancies.
While I’m here (and because this [...]

Birthday Denial

These kids just don’t listen to me.  Year after year, I say, “Don’t turn 8 or 10 or 12 or ….. 5.”
I get pouty just thinking about our Little Gal turning five.

I guess I’m going  to have to face it.  Birthday presents have already come in the mail (still wrapped, waiting for the day, later [...]

A Poem for a Little Guy

Our Little Guy got the sweetest look on his face today when I read Eugene Field’s (1850-1895) poem, The Night Wind, to him.  You might like it, too:

Have you ever heard the wind go “Yooooo”?
’T is a pitiful sound to hear!
It seems to chill you through and through
With a strange and speechless fear.
‘T is the voice [...]

Shots: A Storm Hideout

We have wacky weather here on the Gulf Coast.  Storms come out of pure blue skies without warning and disappear just as suddenly.  Our family likes our storms, but today the “boom” was a bit too loud and scary for a little certain someone.
So we found another use for a few bedsheets, a pile of quilts, and our dining table.
A special [...]

Yawn, About Me

For the nosey curious ones of you, I put up an About Me page.  It is sure to make you *oh, yawn,* but anyway, it’s there all the same.  See the tab, above the fabric, where it says “A Bit About Me“?  That’s it.
