Shots: Join Me! The Great Backyard Bird Count

I enjoy all things in nature.   For me, nature is God’s Great Cathedral.  I see Him in everything natural, from baby’s little toes to the dark clouds on a stormy summer afternoon. 

That’s one reason I love birds so much.  Here are a few we’ve seen in the past week:

Carolina Chickadee (above)

I’m not sure what this one is This is a Yellow-rumped Warbler (above), according to the very smart birders at a Flickr Group on North American Birds .  It’s a cutie, peeking at me like that!   If you can identify it, please let me know. The children and I are creating a bird notebook (maybe something like this one) from our photos and drawings this year.

1. American Robin, 2. Cooper’s Hawk, 3. Blue Jay, 4. Laughing Gulls , 5. Unknown  Northern Mockingbird – P.S. days later: oh, gracious, I have much to learn!  Someone just told me that it is the State Bird of my Florida.  Feeling a bit foolish for not recognizing the bird!  Ask me about flowers, and I’m your gal. Birds?  I’m such a newbie., 6. Ring-Billed Gull

The Great Backyard Bird Count is from February 15-18, 2008, so get counting!

Please leave a link if you photograph some of the birds you see, too.  I would love to see them!  And let me know if you think I have any of the bird names wrong.  I’m no ornithologist.
