We’re counting birds for the Great Backyard Bird Count.  I saw this fellow in our yard today.  Does he get counted, too? 

This fine boy is named Duchess.  He’s our resident rooster, the protector of “the gals,” my 9 hens.

I enjoy all things in nature.   For me, nature is God’s Great Cathedral.  I see Him in everything natural, from baby’s little toes to the dark clouds on a stormy summer afternoon. 
That’s one reason I love birds so much.  Here are a few we’ve seen in the past week:

We always have a lot of birds down here, with the barrier islands, many bays, bayous, and rivers, but we also get some Winter guests from the North.  Snowbirds that come down with the snowbirds.  To those of you who are missing your birds right now:  they’re doing fine; we’re taking good care of them!
